Sara Wickham - Holistic Ways of Knowing
Modern midwives may be exhorted to base their practice on the findings
of research, but women and midwives use many other ways of knowing, in
conjunction with research evidence. Sara will explore the concept of
birth and midwifery knowledge from a holistic perspective; looking at
what we know, how we know it and the ways in which different kinds of
knowledge and ways of knowing relate to each other in practice.
Sara Wickham - Stepping Stones to Cervical Wisdom
This session focuses on how our knowledge of the behaviour of the
cervix has grown and changed over time, with a focus on how and what we
have learned from women's bodies.
Using the ancient symbol of the labyrinth which is made up from a
meandering but purposeful path, you will have an opportunity to explore
and reflect on your midwifery journey through creativity.
The NHS Choices website has comprehensive advice for all pregnant women about Swine Flu, it's treatment and measures to help prevent it.
“Supervisors of midwives give guidance and support to both midwives and you to ensure that the care offered is right for you, is given in the right place, by the right person and that it will benefit you and your baby.”
